Attendees guide


The FOSS4G Europe 2015 organizing committee is delighted to welcome you at the Como Campus of Politecnico di Milano. Some useful information are gathered in this section.



On-site registration will not be possible.

Registered participants to workshops will be welcomed at Politecnico di Milano, Como Campus on Tuesday, July 14th from 8:00 AM.

Registered participants to conference will be welcomed at Politecnico di Milano, Como Campus on Wednesday, July 15th from 8:00 AM.

Ice breaker party

The ice breaker party will take place at Cube Cafè on Wednesday, July 15th from 8:30 PM. Cube Cafè is located here and reachable in a 20 minutes walk from the conference venue.

The ice breaker party ticket is included in the conference fee and you will find it inside your conference badge.

You won't be admitted to the ice breaker party without this ticket.

Social dinner

The social dinner will take place on Thursday, July 16 th 8:00 PM at Il Birrificio di Como, a local brewery located here. Buses will take you to the brewery from the conference venue (parking is in front of Castelnuovo building) at 7:15 PM (way back at 11:45 PM to the conference venue).

The social dinner ticket is NOT included in the conference fee. If you want to join the social dinner, you must pay 35 euros at the conference registration desk.

The social dinner ticket is included in the conference badge if you paid for it when you registered.

You won't be admitted to the social dinner without this ticket.

Group picture

All attendees are invited to gather for a FOSS4GE group picture on Thursday, July 15 at 6:15 PM, after the conferences.

Code of conduct

All conference attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers are required to agree with the FOSS4G Europe Code of Conduct.


Conference Schedule

The conference program is organized into six tracks. Conferences will take place in Auditorium 2, Room VS.09, Room V0.8 and Room V2.12. Keynote speeches will be given in Auditorium 1.







Instructions to presenters

Presentations can be run either using the laptop provided in the room or the presenter's laptop. In the latter case, it would be preferable that the presenters test the connection to the projector before the session starts. The maximum time allowed for presentations is 20 minutes; 5 minutes are then available for questions & answers. To run on the laptop provided in the rooms, presentations can be prepared in PPT, ODP or PDF format; Internet connection will be available.

Instructions to poster presenters

Posters should be prepared in A0 vertical format. Authors can place their posters in the suggested place starting from the morning of Wednesday, July 15; the posters can be then removed at the end of the conference on Friday, July 17. Poster presenters will have also 3 minutes of oral presentation in the session they have been assigned to (look at the conference program). This is a standard presentation, therefore the use of slides is allowed.

Instructions to session chairs

Each session chair is fully responsible of his/her session. Before the beginning of the session, the chair should verify that all the presenters (including poster presenters, if scheduled) are present. The chair should also verify that presentations are correctly in place (either on the laptop provided in the room or on the presenters' computers) in order not to lose time between presentations. In particular, poster sessions will be a sequence of 6 presentations of 3 minutes each and chairs have to ensure the respect of their schedule.


Instructions to workshop attendees

The workshop attendees should ask any question by email to the Workshop committee. Workshops are organized in computer labs and regular lecture rooms. Participants for workshops not taking place computer labs must bring their own computer with the requested software installed on it.

The workshop attendees are invited to check the technical instructions regarding the workshop(s) they are planning to attend.

Workshops participants and instructors must register before going to the workshop rooms. The registration desk will open from 8:00 AM. It will be located at the ground floor of the Castelnuovo building. Come early and don't wait at registration !
