OSGeo-Live a powerful Open Source Project

Abstract: 

Learn more about OSGeo-Live the powerful project that helps you to get familiar with Open Source Software and Open Data.

OSGeo-Live is a self-contained bootable DVD, USB thumb drive or Virtual Machine based on Xubuntu, that allows you to try a wide variety of open source geospatial software without installing anything. It is composed entirely of free software, allowing it to be freely distributed, duplicated and passed around.

It provides more than 50 pre-configured applications for a range of geospatial use cases, including storage, publishing, viewing, analysis and manipulation of data. It also contains sample datasets and documentation.

The presentation will give an overview over the software and data which comes with OSGeo-Live. You will get a project overview and learnn about the OSGeo-Live history and success.

Presenter Biography: 

Astrid Emde is part of the Mapbender Developer Team. She is an active member of OSGeo and especially active at OSGeo-Live. She is part of the german local chapter FOSSGIS e.V and organizes the FOSSGIS conference and OSGeo Park at Intergeo.
